Resources

The following are resources that I found really helpful in my amateur radio journey. I will do my best to add to these and write out how they helped me or what they’re about. This is my personal list. If you have any cool websites, YouTube channels, apps, etc that you think I should check out let me know at KF8DEF@gmail.com

Ham Radio Crash Course – KI6NAZ

This channel, hands down, is what really re-sparked my interest in radio. I ran across him in my browse page and watched some of his more fun videos. When I ended up wanting to take my test he has a FANTASTIC technician study playlist where he goes over each element of the exam and only focuses on the right answers. He doesn’t dive into the background of every question, but here and there he spends some time explaining them.

HamStudy.org

This is your one stop shop for studying for your radio exams. Enough can’t be said about the people behind this site. It allows you to just scroll the questions and answers or you can do “study mode” where you are presented a question and it will tell you if you get it right or wrong. Additionally, you can flip the question card and read the information covered in the question. When you feel like you’re ready you can do practice tests. The best feature, to me, is the progress chart where it will show you how well you do in each element. If you find yourself doing bad in one you can focus your studies on that section.

HamRadioPrices.com

These guys are pretty new on the block, but being new in the hobby I’m on the hunt for equipment. They track radio prices and will show you the price history across the most popular sites. It’s a great way to let you know if you’re getting a good deal. They are slowly adding more stuff than just radios so keep checking back if you’re in the market for new equipment!
